ROTARY THEME 2014-2015: LIGHT UP ROTARY
July 1 marks the start of a new rotary year. The term "Rotary Year" has been used to signify Rotary's annual administrative period since 1913. An article in The Rotarian that July noted, "The Rotary year that is rapidly drawing to a close has been marked by several highly successful joint meetings of Clubs that are so situated as to assemble easily and conveniently." Since executive committee's decision in 1913, the end of the Rotary Year has remained 30 June.
Happy New Rotary Year! This is the greeting we Rotarians received today. July 1 is a very special day to the newly elected officers of each club in the district. The Bataan Association of Rotary Clubs (BARC), which includes the Rotary Clubs of Mariveles, Mariveles-Ecozone, Orion, Balanga, Orani and Limay, oined other clubs from District 3790 in the Kick-off Candle Ceremony with the theme "Light Up Rotary". Each club had it own way of celebrating the new Rotary Year.
Rotarians and rotaractors from Limay gathered at the Limay Municipal Hall for the start of the candle ceremony. We are thankful to the Management Information System of Limay for allowing us to use the town's LED monitor for the awareness campaign of the Rotary Club of Limay.
Today also served as the 1st official meeting of the Best Class team held in Meksi Coffee, Limay, Bataan. President Lira Feliciano presided over the meeting with Assistant Governor and IPP Maria Elizabeth Salvador. 11 rotarians are present and everyone all are eager to participate and be updated in the club;s schedule of activities.
May we, Rotarians continue to shine and LIGHT UP ROTARY through our services and fellowship. This day will be the start of a good and productive rotary year for all of us. Let us be united in sharing the true essence of rotary and make a difference.
