A talk conducted by the Assistant Warden of Bataan District Jail and Chief of Hearing Office
of BJMP Region III, Atty. Ralfh Aldrin M. Lumanlan. Het set the
difference between Bureau of Jail Management & Penology and Bureau of
Corrections. The first houses inmates who still have ongoing cases and who were
sentenced to jail for no more than three years and the latter holds the inmates
who were persecuted for more than three years.
Atty. Lumanlan also showed us the different
programs that they have for the well-being of the inmates. They elementary and
highschool undergraduates can complete their highschool education while they
are serving their time in jail. They are also equipped with trainings and
livelihood programs that they can use once they have served their sentence. All
medical services including the inmates’ medication are also free of charge.
At the end of his talk, Atty. Lumanlan asked support
from our club to help them provide soap for the inmates who do not have family
members to provide them with one.
