One of the Historical Places in the World is Bataan, this is where Americans and Filipinos had their last stand before the Japanese invaded the capital Manila, hence the Fall of Bataan. Brave men had their worst times here when the Japanese made the POW's march from Mariveles, Bataan to San Fernando, Pampanga before they are loaded in trucks to Capas, Tarlac. This was called the Death March, each kilometre from Mariveles to San Fernando was erected a marker to remember the hardships of the soldiers during the war, which is now known as the Death March Marker.
Those markers are donated by individuals and managed by FAME. One of their coordinators here in Bataan is Historian Rtn Edna Binkowski who suggested to us since she joined Rotary to help FAME maintain the historical markers. And so we did, last November 8, we restored 2 kilometre markers which are KM 23 and KM 25 by cleaning and repainting it. This is our way to give back to those veterans who still come to Bataan just to visit markers and relive history.
