CITY OF PASIG, Metro Manila –2013
was the year when Rotary Club of Limay and Rotary Club of Pasig Central became
sister clubs. We were happy to meet their members and on the night of the
sisterhood signing we were already discussing of projects we can do. The
members of RC Pasig Central did their first project with us through the Libreng
School Supplies for the students of Kinaragan Elementary School. This year, President Emy Aquino spearheaded
the Rotarun 2014, a fund raising project
which was held last September 28 at the UP Diliman Grandstand and Academic
Oval. Proceeds from this project will fund the construction of comfort rooms in
their chosen public school.
We were invited to participate; I
represented Rotary Club of Limay and joined the 3KM run. I was really looking
forward to this day, since this will be my first fun run outside of Bataan. I
was excited to see runners who were also there, everyone woke up early in the
morning and really took time to prepare for the said event. The participants
assembled and registered around 5am and were greeted by the energetic members
of RC Pasig Central. Before the gun start some runners joined the warm up zumba
dance for a few minutes, this will helped them to warm their muscles and
increase their heart rate. This will also improve the strength of the runners’
knee muscles to decrease the chances of injuries.
With more than 250 participants
from all walks of life who run from 3km, 5km and 10km the starting line was
filled with smiles and excitement among runners. Some run for fun or for the
experience while some joined to be the best among the rest. Over all it was an
event that not only held for the fund to
be raised but also for the runners to feel that they can be part in the
rotary’s endeavor to give service to the community in their own simple way like
running for a cause.
Thank you Rotary Club of Pasig
Central for allowing us to experienced the enjoyment of sharing and having fun
at the same time. We are looking forward in doing more projects with you.
